October Saltwater Forecast Overview

The month of October is all about Destin, with the world-renowned Destin Fishing Rodeo taking center stage. Whether you're an experienced angler or just starting out, you're invited to participate and see if luck is on your side. With over $150,000 in prizes up for grabs, there's no reason not to try!

The reason for the rodeo's timing is simple - this is when the fishing along the Emerald Coast reaches its peak. From Bull Redfish to the potential opening of the Red Snapper season, and even the chance of catching a Blue Marlin, everything is possible. And with categories for all types of fish, there's something for everyone.

Meanwhile, on the East Coast, the focus is on bottom-dwelling species like Cobia, Groupers, Mackerel, and Barracuda. Anglers from Miami to Jacksonville are all in on the action. In the Keys, inshore fishing for Jack Crevalle is the main attraction, while the same reef and offshore species are available for those who venture further out. In freshwater, it's all about the return of Largemouth Bass, with top-notch fishing opportunities all across Florida.

October Freshwater Forecast Overview

October is the prime time for bass fishing in Central Florida! With the arrival of the first cool front of the season, both air and water temperatures are cooling down, creating optimal conditions for bass fishing. Lakes such as Toho, Kissimmee, and the Butler Chain are just a few of the many bodies of water where you can expect excellent fishing.

Even though bass can be caught year-round in Florida, the cooler months offer a higher chance of landing trophy-sized fish as they start to prepare for the spawn by feeding on shad and wild shiners. Schooling action is also a common occurrence in October, making it an exciting time to hit the lakes. So, get ready for some thrilling fishing experiences and remember, the cooler the weather, the hotter the action!
