I like these too. Here are the details.
Capt. Larry L. Fowler's clients will agree with that statement, myself included. The only
limitations I have seen with these reels is the inability of the reel to set off an alarm
when I get my thumb on the spool! The Calcutta 700 series has a smooth drag that does it's
job well, when set and left alone. The trips I have been on with Capt. Larry have made me believe
that a lesser quality reel just won't do the job on an "Extreme Snook". The Shimano Calcutta 700-700S
series is his first choice in reels.
I personally enjoy very much the quality of the workmanship, the smoothness of the drag, and the balance of power/speed this reel has built in.
After my first trip with Capt. Larry L. Fowler, I was describing the reels to a friend, but I didn't know who made them. I said "They are really nice, gold, very smooth drag." He replied,
"Calcutta, man, has to be. They are the BEST." I agree.
A 700S is now on my Christmas wish list.
