Florida Saltwater Fishing.
Fishing Report for Mosquito Lagoon.

Well I guess it is time for another Mosquito Lagoon fishing report.

It's been 2 weeks since the big blow at the end of March. It blew for 7 days of which I canceled 6 days of my trips on the books. I want to explain that some for your reference. When conditions are that bad I don't think I could catch a Redfish, much less guide you to a Redfish and certainly not a memorable day. It is the best for all concerned to cancel and reschedule if possible and if not I still do not want take your money for a boat ride in rough weather etc........!

Sometimes I catch some flack from clients but usually they understand I am looking out for their interest. It is just good business. Some guides will take you out and get a Redfish or two or get skunked and tell you "awe schucks the weather hurt us today". Well DUH!!!!!

Anyway the point here is that my main concern is your day on the water, and giving you the best product I can. That's how you stay in business for over 15 years with a 80% repeat and referral client base. I want you to see the real Mosquito Lagoon. Right now all we need is a little cooperation from mother nature, and wow it is really good out there! It will get much better through the summer with the 20# to 30# fish becoming more prevalent.

Today with my long-time client Joe Valentine in my new 16 foot Ranger Phantom (rigged with a 60HP 4 stroke Mercury power which will run in 4 inches of water, float in 6 inches of water and jump up in 8 inches of water), we focused on large schools of slot fish to 30 inches. We found seven different schools of 200 to 300 fish in each school throughout the day. All were in about a foot of water and finning etc...

A sight to see anytime. Joe hooked 24 Redfish today and landed 22 with the largest coming in around 30" and 12 pounds. Fun, Fun, Fun......... Not bad. It seemed like everywhere we went we would find a school of good size Redfish. It was our plan to go and get a few Big Reds as we usually do around mid morning but we could not leave these fun size schools alone. They just kept letting us get right up on them and cast in and another instant hookup.

Using 8# test and 7 foot light action spinning rods it was a blast for both of us. Joe catching and me just grinning on how good this product is. The best Redfishing in the world.

It can't get better than this. Oh, by the way, the weather was light winds, semi glass conditions and gin clear water.

Welcome to Mosquito Lagoon for the summer. Come get some!!!!!!!!!!!!!
